Artist Dan Proto

Dan Proto

Dan Proto explores themes of emotion through the manipulation of the human figure. His works are primarily three dimensional sculptures which are cast in various plastics, resins, and urethanes. He creates his own silicone molds from the an original clay sculpture and each plastic cast reproduction is then hand painted in acrylics and oils. Inspired by Rodin, his works often display the human figure, and are often paired with the biomechanical textures of artist H.R. Giger. Additionally, the surreal nature of his work is inspired by artists such as Hieronymus Bosch and Salvador Dali. Through his work, Dan tries to explore his own internal revelations, hopes, and fears. His works invite the viewer to question if they, themselves, have ever experienced similar feelings.
